Fast, Reliable Driveway & Pavers Across The Acreage
If you’re pricing a paver driveway or concrete replacement in The Acreage, the number you’ll hear most often is $5,000 to $18,000, depending on square footage and how much muck we have to dig out. That range exists because The Acreage is not Royal Palm Beach or Wellington. The soil here sits on peat that shifts with the wet season, the water table can rise 18 to 24 inches below grade, and any job that touches a roadside swale has to clear an ITID right-of-way permit before Palm Beach County signs off. We’re Barrett & Sons Construction, and we’ve learned these roads and swales the hard way, one driveway at a time since 1998. Call Tom and his sons at (877) 610-1318 for a straight answer and a free estimate on your driveway or paver job.
Why Barrett & Sons Construction Is The Acreage’s Preferred Driveway & Pavers Company
We’re a local, owner-operated crew, not a franchise dispatching strangers to your 1.25-acre lot. Tom Barrett’s name, address, and license number are published for you to check before you sign anything. When you call, a live person answers, 24/7, not a voicemail box. Our crews have replaced driveways from 60th Street North to Hamlin Boulevard and everywhere the Indian Trail Improvement District roads run through the 33412 ZIP code.
What separates us in The Acreage is the way we bid the ground under the slab, not just the pretty top layer. A paver driveway spec that works at the coast with a standard sand base will fail here within a few wet seasons if you don’t over-excavate into firm bearing and lay a geotextile separator. We write that into every scope. We also pull permits on every eligible job and hand you written change orders before any price changes. That’s the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if it’s not done right, Tom comes back and makes it right with one call.
Our Driveway & Pavers Services in The Acreage
We handle the Driveway & Pavers work that The Acreage lots actually need: long asphalt or paver approaches, concrete slabs engineered for muck soils, and repairs that fix the root cause instead of patching the surface. Here’s what most people call us for.
Paver Driveways
Belgard and Techo-Bloc pavers are what we install most often in The Acreage, and there’s a reason. Properly installed over an over-excavated, geotextile-separated base, a paver driveway flexes with seasonal ground movement instead of cracking. The catch: the base has to be engineered for muck, not sand. We typically excavate 12 to 18 inches, compact in lifts, and use open-graded base so the winter and summer water table rise can drain through instead of saturating the pavers and pumping fine sediment up through the joints. A paver driveway in The Acreage runs $7,000 to $18,000 for a typical oversized lot entry.

Concrete Driveways & Concrete Work
Concrete in The Acreage needs more than a pretty broom finish. We pour 4,000 PSI fiber-reinforced slabs with thickened edges at the ITID right-of-way, because the swale side takes the worst of the seasonal heave. We also saw-cut control joints on a tighter grid than coastal crews would use, and we set the finished grade so water moves away from the stem wall, not toward it. A standard concrete driveway replacement here runs $4,500 to $12,000 depending on access, demo haul-off, and whether the existing slab was poured over a shallow, uncompacted muck base.

Asphalt Driveways & Resurfacing
Asphalt works fine on The Acreage’s flat, low-lying terrain, but only if the base is solid. We see a lot of asphalt driveways that looked great for two years, then developed alligator cracking because the original base was skimped. We mill and resurface existing asphalt when the base is sound, or we replace the whole section with properly compacted aggregate over geotextile when it isn’t. Asphalt paving and resurfacing here runs $3,500 to $9,000 for a standard rural lot driveway, and we also do driveway sealing at $250 to $700.

Driveway Repair & Replacement
We’ve fixed driveways in The Acreage where the edge pavers sank into the swale, concrete split across the middle, and asphalt rutted from waterlogged subgrade. The repair always comes down to the base. We cut back the failed section, excavate to firm bearing, and rebuild so the new surface moves as one piece. Repairs and partial replacements run $5,000 to $14,000 depending on how far the damage extends and whether ITID lets us stage equipment in the right-of-way.

Trusted Brands We Service in The Acreage
When your driveway gate, window line, or fence ties in with the hardscape, we’re installing brands you can look up: Belgard and Techo-Bloc on pavers, plus Simonton and PGT when we handle window or door scope alongside your driveway replacement. We don’t stock mystery brands off a van. We do keep a working inventory of paver joint sand, base rock, and concrete materials staged for The Acreage jobs, so when the wet season backs up a swale and your edge pavers sink, we’re not waiting two weeks for a supplier to restock.
Common Driveway & Pavers Problems We See in The Acreage Homes
- Edge pavers sinking into the swale. When the ITID roadside swale backs up during the wet season, water saturates the pavement edge and undermines the outer row of pavers. We find this on at least half the older paver driveways we inspect in The Acreage.
- Mid-slab cracks from muck compression. The original 1980s and 1990s builders often poured driveways over a shallow, uncompacted muck base. As the ground shifts seasonally, the slab heaves and cracks at the stem wall, leaving a visible line across the middle.
- Limestone screenings turning to mush. Limestone screenings used as paver bedding hold water. When the water table rises through the June-October wet season, the screenings lose strength and pavers start pumping fine gray sediment up through the joints.
- Spalling and sinking at the swale. On a 1.25-acre lot off 60th Street North, we replaced a 1990s concrete driveway that had spalled and sunk four full inches at the swale because the original builder never compacted the muck before pouring. Our crew cut back the failed slab, excavated 18 inches to firm sand, laid a geotextile, compacted in lifts, and poured a 4,000 PSI fiber-reinforced slab with a thickened edge at the ITID right-of-way. The new driveway got its final inspection sign-off two days before the owner listed the house.
Pricing for Driveway & Pavers in The Acreage, FL
Here’s what you’ll pay for a properly engineered driveway in The Acreage. These are all-in ranges, including over-excavation, geotextile, base compaction, and ITID coordination.
| Service | Typical Cost in The Acreage |
|---|---|
| Paver Driveway Installation | $7,000 - $18,000 |
| Concrete Driveway Installation | $4,500 - $12,000 |
| Driveway Repair & Replacement | $5,000 - $14,000 |
What drives the final number is the soil under your driveway. If we’re digging through 18 inches of muck to find stable bearing, the base work costs more than a coastal lot where the subgrade is firm sand. That’s the honest reason a The Acreage paver driveway can run higher per square foot than the same job in Royal Palm Beach. We price it in writing, we send you a written change order before any scope shift, and the estimate is free. Call (877) 610-1318 to get your number.
We Also Serve Cities Near The Acreage
Our crews work all through western Palm Beach County. In addition to The Acreage, we regularly quote driveways, patios, and paver work in Royal Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Wellington, and Lake Park. If you’re just outside the ITID boundary, call us anyway. No trip charge inside the county, and a free second opinion on any written estimate you’ve already received.

FAQs - Driveway & Pavers in The Acreage
Yes, in most cases. Any driveway work within the ITID right-of-way, including the swale, the culvert, or the road approach, requires an ITID right-of-way permit before Palm Beach County will finalize your building permit. If your driveway apron crosses the swale, which most in The Acreage do, we pull the permit and coordinate with ITID so your project doesn’t stall for weeks. Call (877) 610-1318 and we’ll check your parcel against ITID’s requirements before we quote.
Because the base has to be built for muck and seasonal water table swing. In Royal Palm Beach, a contractor may get away with a few inches of compacted sand. In The Acreage, the muck and peat soils shift, so we over-excavate 12 to 18 inches, install a geotextile separator, and compact in lifts before the first paver goes down. That’s more material, more labor, and more time. The cheaper inland spec will heave and crack within a few wet seasons, and you’ll pay for it twice. Call (877) 610-1318 to see exactly where the money goes in our written line-item quote.
Only if the slab is stable. If the concrete has cracked because the muck underneath shifted, covering it with pavers won’t fix anything. The pavers will follow the same movement and you’ll have a cracked paver driveway instead of a cracked concrete one. We cut out failed sections, rebuild the base to firm bearing, and then lay pavers on a properly prepared surface. If the slab is sound and only cosmetically cracked, we can overlay it, but most older The Acreage slabs need real base work underneath.
It saturates the base and destroys its strength. When the water table rises 18 to 24 inches below grade during the wet season, any uncompacted or water-retaining layer under your slab turns soft, and the concrete moves. That’s why we use open-graded, free-draining base rock, a geotextile separator, and proper compaction. It costs a few hundred dollars more on the front end and saves a full teardown later. This is the most important part of your driveway in The Acreage, and it’s the part most cheap bids skip.
Get the drainage checked first. Sunken edge pavers along the swale usually mean water is ponding at the pavement edge and washing out the base. We pull the sunken pavers, excavate the saturated base, rebuild it with compacted, free-draining aggregate, and reset the pavers with new joint sand. If the swale itself is holding water, we’ll flag it for ITID coordination. That’s a repair we do regularly in The Acreage, and a written estimate is free. Call (877) 610-1318 and we’ll come look at the drainage before we touch the pavers.
If you’ve got a driveway that’s cracking, sinking, or washing out in The Acreage, the fix starts with the soil underneath it, not the surface on top. We’re Tom Barrett and his sons, and we’ve been doing this work in The Acreage long enough to know exactly what the muck and the water table will do to a badly built base. For a free estimate, a second opinion on any written quote, or just a straight answer about your property, call (877) 610-1318. We’ll walk the site with you and show you what we’re seeing.
