When you work at Barrett & Sons, you work on jobs that Tom Barrett signs off on personally – permits pulled, inspections signed, change orders in writing before a single nail moves. You’ll be on a crew that runs the job the right way, not the fast way. Some days that’s harder. Most days it means you go home knowing the work will still be standing twenty years from now. That’s the job.
Who We’re Looking For
- Kitchen and Bathroom Remodelers – Someone who can read a layout, sequence the trades, and cares whether the grout lines are straight even when nobody’s watching.
- Roofing Installers – A person who takes fall safety seriously, follows manufacturer specs precisely, and understands that a GAF or CertainTeed installation is only as good as the hands doing it.
- Window and Door Installers – Detail-oriented and patient, because a misaligned Andersen or Marvin unit is coming back out and going back in until the seal and the swing are right.
- Hardscape and Fence Crews – Someone who finds satisfaction in grade work, base prep, and laying Belgard or Techo-Bloc patterns that stay level through frost heave and summer heat.
- Home Addition and ADU Framers – A framer or finish carpenter who knows the difference between a wall that passes inspection and a wall that passes inspection and is actually plumb.
- Customer Service and Scheduling Coordinators – A straight-talking, organized person who can answer a real phone call, track a job schedule, and never let a customer wonder what’s happening on their project.

We bring people in green and grow them into lead installers and crew leads. The path is not a rumor. Tom started building crews the same way in 1998, and the sons who run jobs today came up the same way. If you want to learn every trade or go deep in one, both roads are open.

No Experience? Read This.
If you have spent time in any trade – even one that has nothing to do with construction – you already know more than you think. A background in auto mechanics, HVAC, landscaping, or even warehouse work tells us you can follow a process, use your hands, and show up. Those things transfer. What we teach is the Barrett & Sons way of running a job: permits first, scope in writing, no cutting corners because a customer asked us to move faster.
The first months are structured. You work alongside an experienced crew member, you learn the checklist, and you do not get handed a job you are not ready for. Tom’s name is on the truck.
