ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have a ViewLux kitchen and something’s failed or wearing out, we can help. We stock ViewLux-compatible hardware, drawer slides, hinges, and cabinet components right here in Los Angeles, and a full ViewLux kitchen remodel typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed. Most owners call us after a drawer starts grinding, a soft-close mechanism stops catching, or a cabinet door won’t stay aligned no matter how many times they adjust it.
Here’s the thing about ViewLux cabinetry and kitchen components: the product line has changed over the years, and the parts that fit a 2015 ViewLux kitchen aren’t always what fits a 2023 model. That’s where most homeowners get stuck. They order a hinge online, it shows up, and the mounting plate is off by half an inch. We’ve seen it more times than we can count in Los Angeles homes, from Westchester to Sherman Oaks to Woodland Hills.
Tom Barrett’s been doing kitchen work in Los Angeles since the late 1990s, and the ViewLux brand has been around for a good stretch of that. Barrett & Sons Construction is an independent service provider, not affiliated with ViewLux. We buy our parts through authorized channels and aftermarket suppliers we’ve vetted over the years, and we stand behind the install with our 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To
ViewLux kitchen lines vary by year and cabinet series. The compatibility gotcha most owners run into is this: ViewLux has used at least three different hinge mounting patterns across their cabinet lines since the early 2010s. A soft-close clip hinge from a ViewLux Signature Series cabinet won’t always seat on a ViewLux Essential or Builder Series door, even if the cup size looks the same from the outside. You have to check the stamped number on the hinge arm or the drawer slide rail, not just measure the cup diameter.
To identify your ViewLux part, look for a stamped or laser-etched code on the hinge body, the slide rail, or the inside of the drawer box. Most ViewLux slides are either a 35mm or 40mm cup hinge specification, but the clip plate depth and hole spacing differ between series. We stock OEM-equivalent hinges, drawer slides, soft-close dampers, and lift mechanisms for ViewLux Signature, ViewLux Studio, and ViewLux Basics lines. On aftermarket equivalents, we’re careful: some aftermarket slides are fine and actually last longer in Los Angeles humidity and heat cycles, but we won’t install one unless it matches the spec exactly. That’s a written line on our estimates.
We also carry KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone components for mixed-brand Los Angeles kitchens, which happens more often than you’d think after a previous partial remodel.
Signs Your ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drawer slide grinding or binding. This usually means the ball bearing cage inside the slide has worn through on one side. In Los Angeles, fine dust and dry air accelerate that wear, especially in homes near the canyons where windows stay open. Once the cage goes, the slide will chew itself up fast.
- Soft-close mechanism slamming or not catching. The damper piston inside the hinge or slide has lost its fluid seal. That’s a sealed unit, so the fix is replacement, not adjustment. You can adjust the door screw all day and it won’t bring the damping back.
- Cabinet door sagging or won’t stay aligned. The hinge plate screws have stripped out of the cabinet box face, or the hinge arm itself is bent. If you keep tightening the same screw and it keeps loosening, the mounting point is compromised and needs a larger insert or a replacement hinge with a different screw pattern.
- Drawer front separating from the drawer box. ViewLux uses a dowel-and-screw connection on most drawer fronts. When that connection fails, the front tips forward and scrapes the cabinet frame below. It’s fixable with the right brackets, but not with more wood glue alone.
- Lift-up cabinet door won’t stay up. The gas strut or lift mechanism has lost pressure. Struts are rated by force and stroke length; if you put the wrong strut on, the door either won’t lift or slams open against the cabinet above it.

Every quote we write in Los Angeles includes parts and labor as separate line items. You know exactly what you’re paying for the part and exactly what you’re paying for the install. No allowances that aren’t on paper, no surprises at the end. Our 90-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship, and we stand behind the parts we supply. If something’s not right, one call brings Tom back.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check yourself. If a drawer is grinding, pull it out and look for a loose screw or a piece of debris in the slide track. If a door is sagging, try tightening the hinge screws once. That’s about where DIY should stop on ViewLux hardware. The reason is matching: wrong hinge plate, wrong slide length, wrong strut force, and you’ll damage the cabinet box or the door edge. We’ve had Los Angeles customers come to us after a $12 online hinge order turned into a $400 cabinet box repair.
We’ll do it right the first time, or we’ll come back and make it right. Call (877) 610-1318 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a simple swap or something bigger. Estimates are free.
FAQs
A well-maintained ViewLux kitchen in Los Angeles typically lasts 15 to 20 years on hinges and slides, but soft-close dampers often fail in the 8 to 12 year range because the fluid seal degrades with heat cycles. Cabinets near the oven or dishwasher fail first. Call (877) 610-1318 if yours feel loose or loud.
No. The damper piston inside a soft-close hinge or slide is a sealed unit; once it loses pressure, the only fix is a new hinge or slide. What you can repair is the mounting point, and that’s worth doing right so the new part doesn’t strip out the same hole.
Most single-part swaps, like replacing hinges on a few doors, take under two hours. Replacing all the slides and hinges in a full Los Angeles kitchen takes a day or less. We bring common ViewLux parts on the truck, so we can often do the swap the same visit. Call (877) 610-1318 to schedule a free estimate.
We stock the most common ViewLux hinges, drawer slides, dampers, and lift mechanisms at our Los Angeles shop. For less common ViewLux series or odd-size panels, we order through our parts channels and typically have them within a few business days. We’ll never order a part without your written approval on price.
