Unilock Construction in Fort Myers, CA | Barrett & Sons Construction

We provide independent Unilock paver installation and repair across Fort Myers, from coastal lots in 33908 to inland neighborhoods in 33966. What makes our Unilock work different here comes down to one thing: we’ve been rebuilding paver systems in this city since Hurricane Ian, and we know how Fort Myers drainage, flood zones, and soil behave under Unilock product. If you need a new paver patio, a repaired driveway, or an honest opinion on whether your storm-damaged pavers are worth saving, call (877) 610-1318.

Call (877) 610-1318

We’re an independent Unilock service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized dealer. That means we recommend what’s right for your lot, not what a brand rep pushes. Tom Barrett runs the crews himself, and we stand behind every paver job with our written 90-Day Done Right Promise. For Unilock sales & service expertise rooted in Fort Myers conditions, we’re the crew neighbors call first.

Why Fort Myers Residents Choose Us for Unilock Service

Tom Barrett learned construction the hard way: framing at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, then years in the field watching what holds up and what doesn’t. He started Barrett & Sons in 1998, and his boys run crews today. We’re the name-on-the-truck alternative to outfits that quote one price and hand over a different bill at the door.

In Fort Myers, our Fort Myers service area covers ZIPs 33916, 33919, 33965, and 33966, plus surrounding Lee County neighborhoods. We carry genuine Unilock replacement pavers and jointing compounds, not aftermarket lookalikes. When a paver needs color-matched replacement, we use the real thing. When a discontinued line can’t be matched, we tell you straight and repurpose salvaged pavers from your own site rather than compromise the pattern.

Every scope, every allowance, every price change arrives as a written change order before work happens. The permit inspector works for you, not for us, and we pull permits on every eligible job. If something’s not done right, one call brings Tom back. That’s the 90-Day Done Right Promise, written on every contract.

Common Unilock Construction Problems We Solve in Fort Myers

  • Efflorescence and surface spalling from saturated soil. Fort Myers sits at the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River, and much of the developed land drains poorly during the June through October wet season. When water sits under Unilock pavers, minerals wick up through the surface and create that white, chalky bloom, while prolonged moisture breaks down the paver face. We repair this by correcting subgrade drainage, not just cleaning the surface.
  • Edge restraint failure at driveway-to-slab transitions. Where Unilock paver driveways meet CBS slab foundations, post-Ian storm surge erosion along McGregor Boulevard and Iona neighborhoods has undercut buried edge restraints. Pavers spread outward, the pattern opens up, and the driveway loses its structural grip. We rebuild with buried aluminum edge and proper aggregate base.
  • Joint sand washout from hydrostatic pressure. After heavy downpours or post-storm flooding, water pushes up through the paver joints in ZIPs 33905 and 33908, washing out polymeric sand and leaving pavers loose and shifting. We re-compact the base, re-sand with the right jointing compound, and seal where it makes sense.
  • UV fading and surface chalking on unsealed patios. Fort Myers gets intense year-round sunlight, and unsealed Unilock color pigments fade faster here than in inland markets. We match and replace faded units, then recommend a sealing schedule that holds up to the climate.
  • Post-storm subgrade collapse under driveways. Ian’s surge left silted sand under thousands of paver surfaces. Pavers look fine on top, but the base is gone. We tear out, rebuild the sub-base with clean aggregate, and re-lay the original pavers whenever they’re structurally sound.

Unilock Service in Fort Myers: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Pavers

Here’s the thing most national Unilock pages won’t tell you: after Hurricane Ian, Lee County’s revised FEMA flood maps reclassified thousands of parcels in south Fort Myers and Iona from Zone X to Zone AE. Finished floor heights now need to sit 2 to 4 feet higher than pre-storm baselines, and that includes outdoor paver surfaces. On a Zone AE lot, a Unilock paver driveway or patio must be installed with a permeable base and positive drainage that meets base flood elevation setback rules. That’s not a suggestion; it’s code. The same Unilock installation in Cape Coral or Lehigh Acres doesn’t carry that requirement. If you’re in Fort Myers near the Caloosahatchee or along McGregor Boulevard, your paver job starts with drainage and elevation, not with picking a color. Skip that step and you’ll be rebuilding the same patio in two years.

One job sticks with us. We tore out a spalling Unilock Beacon Hill Smooth driveway in the McGregor Boulevard corridor, right in 33901. Ian’s surge had left five inches of silted sand under the pavers and shoved the edge restraint two feet out of line. Two other firms quoted full replacement. We rebuilt the sub-base with clean ¾-inch aggregate to raise the finish grade above the new FEMA Flood Design Elevation, re-laid the salvaged pavers with fresh polymeric sand and a new buried aluminum edge, and handed the client a paver driveway that’s now compliant and structurally sound. The original Beacon Hill units were fine once the subgrade was corrected. Most pavers are. It’s the base that fails in Fort Myers.

Unilock Models & Products We Service in Fort Myers

We work with Unilock’s full product range, including Beacon Hill Smooth, Courtstone, Brussels Block, and Richcliff. Each line has its own thickness, joint profile, and drainage behavior, and we match those specs to your Fort Myers lot rather than forcing a product that looks good in a catalog but fights your soil.

We stock genuine Unilock replacement pavers and jointing compounds locally for fast turnaround on Fort Myers repairs. Older or discontinued lines get handled honestly: we repurpose salvaged pavers from your own site when a match isn’t possible. For Unilock sales & service that starts with what your lot actually needs, call us before you buy.

Unilock Service Pricing in Fort Myers

Service Fort Myers Price Range
Paver Patio Installation $3,500 - $11,000
Paver Driveway Installation $7,000 - $18,000
Driveway Replacement $5,000 - $14,000

What drives the cost in Fort Myers more than anything is what’s under the pavers. If your lot sits in a revision flood zone or drains poorly during wet season, you’ll need permeable base work, positive drainage, and possibly elevation adjustments before the first paver goes down. That’s real money, and we put it in writing before we start. A free estimate from us includes a look at your subgrade, drainage, and flood zone status, not just a square-foot price. Call (877) 610-1318 for an exact quote based on your lot.
