Moen Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

A Moen kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and how much plumbing moves. We stock Moen-compatible fixtures and hardware on our trucks, and we match existing Moen models so you’re not re-buying pieces that still work. Most homeowners call us after a Moen faucet cartridge goes stiff, a pull-down spray head loses pressure, or a cabinet hinge wallows out after ten years of daily use.

You don’t need to tear out a whole kitchen because one Moen part quit. Our crew swaps the failing piece, matches the finish, and leaves the rest of the room alone. That’s the fastest way to get your kitchen working again without a surprise invoice at the end.

Which Moen Models This Applies To

We work on the full Moen kitchen lineup: standard bases, pull-down and pull-out faucets, side-spray models, bar/prep faucets, and pot fillers. The compatibility gotcha most people miss is the cartridge type. Moen uses two main systems: the 1225 cartridge in older standard faucets and the 1255 Duralast cartridge in most pull-downs from the last 15 years. They are not interchangeable. A 1225 won’t seat in a 1255 body, and forcing it scores the brass.

To identify yours, pull the handle and look at the top of the cartridge. The 1225 has a flat brass stem with a small tab; the 1255 has a taller plastic stem with a white cap. If you’d rather not take anything apart, look under the sink for a model tag, or call us with a photo. We’ll tell you which one you have before we ever schedule the truck.

On faucets beyond repair, we install new Moen fixtures matched to your existing sink drilling and finish. Moen’s Spot Resist Stainless and Matte Black are the two finishes we see most in Los Angeles kitchens. Aftermarket cartridges exist, and some are fine for a rental unit, but for a faucet you use every day, we recommend the Moen Duralast cartridge. It’s warrantied by Moen and it seats correctly every time. The $15 savings on a knockoff isn’t worth a callback.

We also stock KraftMaid and Cambria product lines for cabinet and countertop work, and we can reference Silestone if you’re comparing quartz options.

Signs Your Moen Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Handle gets stiff or won’t return to center. The cartridge seals are swelling or mineralized. Los Angeles water runs hard, and calcium builds up faster here than most owners expect. A fresh Moen 1255 cartridge fixes the feel immediately.
  • Water pressure drops at the spray head. The diverter inside the faucet body is clogged with scale, or the spray head screen is blocked. We clean or replace the diverter in about 20 minutes on most Moen pull-downs.
  • Drip from the spout after the handle is off. The cartridge O-rings have flattened. Even a slow drip in Los Angeles adds up, and with water rates where they are, the math is ugly.
  • Base of the faucet leaks when you run water. The deck plate gasket or the O-ring under the spout base has failed. This one rots the cabinet floor if you let it go, so don’t.
  • Cabinet drawer slides grind or a hinge sags. A lot of Moen kitchen remodels include new cabinetry, and the hardware takes daily abuse. Soft-close slides wear out eventually, and a sagging door usually means the hinge cup needs replacement, not the whole cabinet.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Job Typical Range (Los Angeles)
Full Moen kitchen remodel (cabinets, countertop, fixtures) $16,520 - $53,100
Small kitchen remodel $10,620 - $23,600
Cabinet installation $4,720 - $15,340
Countertop installation $2,360 - $7,670
Backsplash installation $945 - $2,950
Kitchen island installation $3,540 - $11,800
Moen faucet cartridge replacement (labor + part) $125 - $350

The range comes down to cabinet grade, countertop material, and whether we’re moving plumbing. A simple Moen faucet swap at an existing sink sits at the low end. Moving a gas line or replumbing a sink to an island adds real cost. Every price we quote is in writing before we start, and every change gets a written change order before the work happens. No allowance surprises at the door.

Every Moen-related job we do carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise. If the part fails or the workmanship isn’t right, you make one call and Tom Barrett comes back. That’s written on the contract.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: whether the supply valves under the sink are fully open, whether the aerator screen is crusted with scale, and whether the Moen cartridge model matches what’s actually in the faucet. None of those require removing water pressure.

But pulling a Moen cartridge without the right sequence can crack the retainer nut, and overtightening the new one scores the brass body. Then you’re buying a new faucet instead of a $30 part. If you’re not sure which cartridge you have, or the water shutoffs under the sink are older gate valves that won’t fully close, call us. We’ll come out, identify the part, and fix it while you watch. Most Moen cartridge swaps are done in under an hour, and we never charge a trip fee inside Los Angeles County.
