To identify your exact part, look for a small label or laser-etched code on the inside edge of the door, the underside of a drawer box, or the corner of the window sash. Jeld-Wen stamps a manufacturing date and plant code on most pieces made after 2005. If the label’s gone, measure the opening precisely: width, height, and depth. Jeld-Wen window sizes run in specific increments, so a 23 3/8-inch rough opening is not a 24-inch window. That quarter inch matters.

One compatibility gotcha we run into constantly: Jeld-Wen changed its hinge spacing on some interior door lines around 2012. If your bathroom door is older than that, an OEM replacement slab won’t match the existing hinge mortises without a small modification. We handle that. And if you’re considering an aftermarket door or window that’s “close enough,” know that Jeld-Wen bathroom windows are built with a moisture-resistant sill profile that generic replacements often lack. • Sagging shower door with a growing gap at the bottom. The pivot pin or hinge bushing has worn, and the weight of the glass is now riding on the frame. Left alone, the glass eventually cracks at the corner. We replace the hinge kit before that happens.
• Bathroom window that fogs between the panes or won’t latch. The insulated glass seal has broken, or the sash balance has lost tension. In a bathroom, a failed seal means moisture inside the glass unit, which you can’t wipe off. It only gets worse.
• Vanity drawer front loose or split where the glide screws enter. Bathroom humidity swells the wood fiber around the screw holes, and the screws lose their bite. Tightening them just strips the hole wider. We install a threaded insert or replace the drawer box front.
• Door that rubs the jamb at the top corner. The top hinge screws have backed out of the jamb, or the jamb itself has shifted with house settling. In Los Angeles, clay soil movement does this to older homes every few years. It’s not the door’s fault, and it’s fixable without replacing the slab.
• Mold or bubbling paint at the base of the window or door casing. That’s water getting behind the trim. Usually from a failed shower splash line or an improperly sealed window flange. By the time you see the bubble, the damage behind it is already running down the stud.

DIY or Call Us?

If your Jeld-Wen window is fogging or the sash won’t stay up, there’s not much a homeowner can safely fix there. The glass unit is sealed, and the balance system holds tension that can take a finger off if you release it wrong. Same goes for a shower door with a failing pivot pin: that’s tempered glass, and tempered glass does not bend. It shatters.

What you can do: tighten hinge screws that are still biting, clean the shower door track, and check whether the weep holes at the bottom of the window frame are clear. If they’re clogged, water backs up into the sill and starts the rot cycle. A toothpick and some patience fix that one.
