CertainTeed Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you’ve got CertainTeed kitchen components that are worn, broken, or just not holding up in a Los Angeles kitchen, we can match, order, and install the right replacement parts and handle the full remodel work around them. An installed kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100, and whether you need a full teardown or a targeted repair around your existing CertainTeed pieces, we’ll give you a written line-item quote before any work starts.

Most homeowners call us after a drawer front splits, a cabinet hinge finally gives out, or a countertop seam starts pulling apart. CertainTeed makes solid products, but kitchens in Los Angeles take a beating – hard water, dry heat, and decades of daily use find the weak points. Tom Barrett has been fixing and remodeling kitchens in this city since 1998, and we’ve seen which parts fail first and what’s worth saving.

Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed’s kitchen line runs through several cabinet and countertop series, and the compatibility details matter more than most homeowners expect. We work with CertainTeed cabinet lines including their thermofoil, laminate, and wood-veneer door styles, along with CertainTeed solid surface and stone countertop installations. The key identification points are on the inside of a cabinet door or drawer box – look for a white CertainTeed label with the series code and date of manufacture, usually stamped or printed near the hinge.

One gotcha we run into constantly in Los Angeles: CertainTeed changed hinge boring patterns and drawer glide mounting specs across their cabinet lines over the years, so a 2005 cabinet door will not hang correctly on a 2015 hinge plate. The old door looks like it should fit. It doesn’t. We measure before we order, because returning the wrong part wastes a week and leaves your kitchen torn apart. For certain older CertainTeed lines, OEM parts are no longer manufactured, and we’ll spec a quality aftermarket equivalent (Blum or Salice hardware, matching the original specs) rather than gamble on a used or reproduction part. We tell you which one applies to your job and why, in writing.

We also install and work around CertainTeed countertop products alongside the other premium materials we carry, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone. Barrett & Sons Construction is an independent contractor and not affiliated with CertainTeed, but we’ve installed and repaired their kitchen products long enough to know the line cold.

Signs Your CertainTeed Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Cabinet doors sag or won’t close flush. The hinge plates have worn or pulled loose from the cabinet face, usually because the original screws stripped out of the particleboard. Tightening them helps for a week, then the door sags again.
  • Drawers stick, scrape, or fall off the glides. CertainTeed drawer glides from the mid-2000s used nylon roller wheels that flatten over time, especially in dry Los Angeles heat. The drawer starts dragging, then binds, then one wheel cracks.
  • Countertop seams are separating or lifting. CertainTeed solid surface and laminate countertops expand and contract with temperature swings. A seam that pulls apart near the sink or dishwasher means the adhesive bond has failed and water is getting underneath.
  • Thermofoil doors are peeling at the edges. Heat and moisture from cooking eventually delaminate the thermofoil from the MDF core, usually starting at the bottom corners. Once peeling starts, it doesn’t stop.
  • Soft-close hinges slam shut. The dampener inside the hinge has blown out. This is a small part, but if it’s ignored, the door slamming eventually loosens the hinge screws and cracks the cabinet face.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full CertainTeed-compatible kitchen remodel in Los Angeles runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, with smaller kitchen projects starting around $10,620. A targeted cabinet installation runs $4,720 to $15,340 depending on cabinet count and layout, and countertop replacement runs $2,360 to $7,670. If you’re just swapping worn parts – hinges, glides, door fronts, drawer boxes – the cost is much lower, and we’ll quote it as a separate line item so you see exactly what you’re paying for.

Here’s what the pricing range covers in Los Angeles:

Scope Installed Price Range
Full kitchen remodel (CertainTeed-compatible) $16,520 - $53,100
Small kitchen remodel $10,620 - $23,600
Cabinet installation $4,720 - $15,340
Countertop installation $2,360 - $7,670
Backsplash installation $945 - $2,950
Kitchen island installation $3,540 - $11,800

Every quote includes parts, labor, and cleanup, and we put it in writing before a single cabinet box gets opened. Our 90-Day Done Right Promise is on every contract – if something isn’t right, Tom Barrett comes back and makes it right, one call. Permits get pulled and inspections signed on every eligible job, because the last contractor most people used told them permits were optional. We don’t.

DIY or Call Us?

Some things are worth checking yourself before you call. If a drawer is sticking, pull it out and look at the glide wheels – if one is cracked or flattened, you know the glide is shot. If a door is sagging, check whether the hinge screws are loose in the cabinet face. Those are diagnostics, not repairs, and knowing what’s wrong helps you talk to us honestly about scope.

Replacing cabinet parts is not high-tension work, but the wrong fix causes real damage. Installing a new hinge plate with longer screws into particleboard can split the cabinet face. Ordering the wrong glide specification means the drawer doesn’t mount flush. And if your countertop seam is separating near the sink, water is already getting into the substrate – that’s a mold and rot problem if it sits. We stock common CertainTeed-compatible hinges, glides, and mounting hardware on the truck because Tom’s sons run the crews and they’d rather fix it the first trip.
