CertainTeed Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

CertainTeed fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a full replacement using genuine CertainTeed components, installed and permitted. We stock the common CertainTeed fence hardware and panels, and our crews can usually have a failed section rebuilt within two to four working days once we’ve matched the part to your existing fence line.

Most Los Angeles homeowners discover a failing CertainTeed fence part the hard way: a gate that drags against the concrete after years of settling, a post base that’s rusted through at ground level, or a vinyl panel that cracked during a Santa Ana wind event. You’ll feel the lose tension in the gate before you see it. We’ve been called out to enough of these to know exactly what to look for.

Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed makes several fence lines, and parts are not interchangeable across all of them. The Bufftech® series and the EverNew® vinyl collections are the two you’ll most often see around Los Angeles backyards, and each uses different post dimensions and rail profiles. Bufftech posts typically run a heavier gauge wall than EverNew, which means a post cap from one line will not seat properly on the other. Before ordering anything, check the inside of a post or the back of a picket for a molded-in part number, usually a letter followed by four or five digits. If that stamp has faded in the California sun, we can measure the post wall thickness and rail profile on site and match it that way.

OEM CertainTeed parts are the default choice for fences still under warranty, and we recommend them for any fence you plan to keep for another decade. For older Bufftech fences where CertainTeed has discontinued a specific profile, we’ll source a high-quality aftermarket alternative and compare the thickness and color match before we install anything. The color is the gotcha: CertainTeed’s white is a shade brighter than most aftermarket vinyl whites, and a mismatched section is visible from across the yard.

Signs Your CertainTeed Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drag on the latch side. The gate post has leaned out of plumb, either from loose post footings or soil shifting after heavy rain. This is the most common failure we see in Los Angeles neighborhoods with clay-heavy soil. Fixing it usually means resetting the post, not just adjusting the hinges.
  • Rust bleed at the base of a steel post. CertainTeed steel-reinforced posts can corrode at ground level where irrigation overspray keeps the area damp. Once the steel inside a vinyl sleeve rusts, it expands and cracks the sleeve from the inside. You’ll see a hairline crack running vertical.
  • Panels bowing between posts. Vinyl expands and contracts with Los Angeles temperature swings, but if you’re seeing a permanent bow, the post spacing may have been set too wide originally, or the rails aren’t seated fully in the post brackets. It won’t self-correct.
  • Post caps lifting or gone entirely. Caps pop off when post tops warp, usually after a season of direct sun and Santa Ana heat. Missing caps let water into the post, and then you get the rust problem above.
  • Neighbor-side discoloration or chalky film. That’s the outer PVC surface breaking down under UV exposure. CertainTeed’s finish is durable, but fifteen or twenty years of direct Southern California sun will eventually flatten the color on the sun-facing side. Cleaning won’t restore it.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s how Los Angeles CertainTeed fence replacement work prices out, line by line. The range depends on the linear footage, post condition, and whether we’re matching an existing Bufftech or EverNew profile.

Scope Los Angeles Range
Single post replacement with steel insert and concrete footing $590-$1,180
Single fence section rebuild on existing posts (6′ x 8′ panel) $945-$2,360
Gate rebuild with new post, hardware, and re-grading the swing path $1,180-$3,540
Full CertainTeed fence replacement, 100-150 linear feet $4,130-$10,620

Every estimate includes the parts, labor, concrete footings set to Los Angeles code depth, old material haul-away, and the permit when the project requires one. What changes the price most is post condition. If the old posts are still straight and solid, we reuse them and save you real money. If they’re rusted or leaning, that’s more digging and more new steel. We write all of that in the estimate before anyone starts. Our work carries the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if something isn’t right, one call brings Tom Barrett back to make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect your CertainTeed fence yourself: check post caps, look for cracks at ground level, and push gently on each post to feel for movement. You can also clean the panels with mild soap and a soft brush. What you shouldn’t do is try to pull a leaning steel-reinforced post with a truck and a chain, or saw through a post that’s under tension from a sagging gate. A post under load can kick when it releases, and we’ve seen it send people to urgent care. We’d rather you call us at (877) 610-1318 and let us handle the digging. The estimate is free, and we’ll tell you straight whether the fence can be repaired or needs to be pulled and reset.
