Cambridge Pavers Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Cambridge Pavers-compatible driveway and paver components across Los Angeles, and a typical repair or replacement runs $413 to $2,125 depending on how many pavers failed and what’s underneath them. Most Los Angeles homeowners discover a problem the same way: a paver shifts underfoot, a section of the driveway sinks after a winter rain, or the color on one patch stops matching the rest. What starts as a small trip hazard is usually a base failure, not just a cracked paver, and that distinction determines whether you’re looking at a simple swap or a proper section rebuild.

Which Cambridge Pavers Models This Applies To

Cambridge Pavers manufactures three primary lines that show up in Los Angeles driveways and patios: the ArmorTec series (their premium interlocking paver with a thicker wear layer), the Ledgestone series (dimensionally consistent, made for tighter joint lines), and the RoundTable collection (mostly used for pool decks and walkways). The identifying details matter, because a paver from the ArmorTec line will not sit flush next to a Ledgestone paver even if the face dimensions look close on a tape measure. The paver thickness is the tell: ArmorTec runs 60mm and 80mm, Ledgestone runs 60mm, and RoundTable tops out at 50mm. If you’ve got the original product label from the pallet, that’s the fastest match. Without it, we measure thickness first, then face dimensions, then color family. Cambridge has shifted some of its color blends over the years, so a 2015 “Harvest Blend” and a 2023 “Harvest Blend” are not always identical out of the mold. That’s a compatibility gotcha most Los Angeles suppliers won’t catch, and it’s why we prefer to match on site. As an independent service provider, we’re not affiliated with Cambridge Pavers, but we work with their product lines every week and keep the common Los Angeles colorways in our yard.

Signs Your Cambridge Pavers Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • One paver rocks when you step on it. This is rarely the paver itself. The sand bedding beneath it has eroded or washed out, usually at the edge of the driveway where water finds a path. Ignore it and the rocking spreads to neighbors.
  • A low spot has formed that holds water after rain. Los Angeles rain patterns, short bursts followed by dry weeks, hide base erosion until the base is already gone. The paver didn’t sink; the compacted base underneath settled or washed away.
  • Sand is washing out between the joints. Polymer joint sand fails in direct sun and standing water. Once the joints go, the pavers start working against each other and chipping at the edges.
  • You can see a crack that runs through three or more adjacent pavers. A single cracked paver is a manufacturing or impact failure. A crack that jumps across multiple pavers means the base has shifted, which is a different repair entirely.
  • The color has faded unevenly in patches. One section looking dull while the rest still has color usually means that area was replaced at some point with a different dye lot. It’ll never blend naturally, and the fix is a matched replacement, not sealing.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Cambridge Pavers driveway repair or paver replacement in Los Angeles, most jobs land between $413 and $2,125. The spread comes down to three things: how many pavers need to come out, whether the base underneath is still sound, and whether we’re matching an existing color lot or starting a fresh section. A simple paver swap where the base is intact runs at the low end. A section rebuild, which means pulling pavers, re-compacting the base, laying fresh bedding sand, and reinstalling with new joint sand, runs toward the upper end. Every written quote includes the pavers, the sand, the base work, and the labor, itemized so you can see where every dollar goes. Any price change after the quote arrives as a written change order before work starts. The installed work carries our 90-Day Done Right Promise: if it isn’t right, Tom Barrett comes back and makes it right, one call.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check the edges yourself: look for sand washing out, water pooling, or a paver that moves more than a quarter-inch under foot. You can also pull a loose paver and look at the sand beneath it, if you’re careful with a flat pry bar. What goes wrong for most Los Angeles homeowners is the rebuild. Compacting base properly takes a plate compactor, not a hand tamper, and laying 60mm or 80mm ArmorTec pavers over poorly compacted ground means you’ll be back out there in two years doing it again. And matching a Cambridge color lot without seeing the actual paver next to your existing ones is a gamble. If you’re not sure what you’re working with, call (877) 610-1318 and we’ll take a look before you spend a weekend on it.
