Abodu Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner's Guide

Most Abodu windows and doors we replace in Los Angeles run between $5,310 and $17,700 installed, depending on the unit size and whether we're swapping glass, hardware, or the entire frame. We stock common Abodu-compatible hardware and seals on our trucks, and for most window failures we can get you a written quote the same day we look at it. The way owners usually find us: a sliding door starts grinding on its track, a window won't latch, or the seal has gone foggy and nobody can see out of it anymore.

We're an independent Los Angeles contractor. We're not affiliated with Abodu, and we don't pretend to be. What we do is match their window and door units to quality replacements that fit, seal, and operate the way the original should have. Tom Barrett has been in the trades since he was sixteen, and he's the one who will look at your unit before any work gets priced.

Which Abodu Models This Applies To

Abodu homes use different window and door packages depending on when the unit was built and which series it came from. The compatibility mistake we see most often in Los Angeles: owners measure the visible glass, order a replacement based on that number, and wind up with a unit that doesn't fit the rough opening. The actual frame width matters, not just what you see through the glass.

Two checkable specifics to save you time. First, look for the manufacturer label on the inside edge of the frame or the top rail of the sash. It'll list the series and the exact unit dimensions. If that sticker is gone, measure the frame from outside edge to outside edge, not the glass. Second, Los Angeles coastal air and hard water do a number on aluminum frames and roller hardware faster than inland climates do, so if your Abodu unit is within a few miles of the ocean, plan on hardware replacement every 5 to 8 years even if the glass is fine.

OEM parts from Abodu are sometimes available but often slow to ship and priced at a premium. Quality aftermarket equivalents, like Andersen or Marvin hardware we carry, usually match or exceed the original spec for less money. We'll show you both options in writing before you decide.

Signs Your Abodu Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • The window won't stay open or won't latch closed. This is usually a worn spring balance or a striker plate that's drifted out of alignment. Both are repairable, but if the spring has snapped, don't force the window, it can drop hard and take a finger with it.
  • Fog or moisture trapped between the glass panes. That means the insulated glass seal has failed. The only real fix is replacing the glass unit, not just wiping it down. Los Angeles temperature swings make this failure more common than people expect.
  • A sliding door that grinds, sticks, or jumps the track. Roller hardware wears out, especially with sand and grit from dry Los Angeles air getting into the track. Running a bad roller grinds the aluminum track itself, which turns a $30 fix into a full door replacement.
  • Drafts around the frame you can feel with the back of your hand. Weatherstripping has compressed or the frame has settled out of square. A drafty window in Los Angeles is silent money leaving every month, but the bigger risk is moisture getting into the wall cavity.
  • The frame is pitted, corroded, or showing white powder. That powder is oxidation, common on aluminum frames near the coast or after years of sprinkler overspray. Once pitting starts, the frame loses structural strength and leaks become a matter of time.

Replacement Cost & What's Included

Installed window replacement in Los Angeles runs $5,310 to $17,700 for a full frame swap, depending on size, opening count, and whether we need to match a custom Abodu rough opening. A simple hardware or roller replacement is far less, often in the $470 to $2,125 range. Door replacements run higher when the unit is oversized or the threshold has water damage underneath it.

Every quote we give is a written line-item quote. You'll see the part cost, the labor cost, and any permit or inspection line separately. If the scope changes once we open the wall or the frame, you get a written change order before we touch anything else. That's not a favor, it's how Tom has run Barrett & Sons since 1998, and it's the reason our 90-Day Done Right Promise means something: if the window or door we install isn't right, Tom comes back and makes it right. One call.

DIY or Call Us?

There are a few things you can safely check yourself: whether the track is packed with debris, whether a screw has backed out on the latch plate, or whether weatherstripping has visibly torn. Cleaning a track and snugging a screw is fine. Anything beyond that on an Abodu window or sliding door, especially spring balances or glass replacement, is where owners get hurt or turn a small repair into a full replacement. Glass units are heavy, springs are under tension, and a fogged pane isn't a weekend project.

If you're not sure whether your window is a clean-the-track situation or a replace-the-roller situation, call us at (877) 610-1318. We'll look at it and give you a straight answer, and if the repair is over $200, we'll take $40 off. No trip charge inside Los Angeles County.
