Franchisee Success Stories

We don’t hand our name to just anybody. The people who do well running a Barrett & Sons Construction franchise are the ones who already know a crooked stud when they see one, who answer their own phone, and who would rather keep a customer for twenty years than win one big ticket. They’re builders first. The franchise gives them the systems, the buying power, and the 90-Day Done Right Promise. But the reputation in their town is theirs to earn, same as it’s been for Tom since 1998.

Meet Our Owners

Andres M. – Central Valley Market

Andres spent fourteen years as a framing foreman for a regional builder before he started looking for his own thing. He knew how to run a crew. What he didn’t know was how to run a business, price a kitchen down to the allowance line, or handle the permit office without losing a week. He chose Barrett & Sons Construction because Tom handed him a written system instead of a sales pitch. “Tom told me the inspector works for the customer, not for me, and that’s how he likes it,” Andres says. He’s been with us six years now. His sons work with him, which he says is the part his father would have appreciated most. He still frames walls on the bigger jobs because he wants to, not because he has to. His customers know his cell number.

Rafael D. – High Desert Region

Rafael came out of commercial roofing, where the work was steady but the handshakes were thin. Every job was a bid, every bid was a war, and the customer was never quite sure who they were actually dealing with after the contract was signed. What pulled him to Barrett & Sons Construction was the transparency. His name, his address, his license number, all published. Nothing to hide behind. “That’s the part that felt different,” he says. “I sign my name and I have to live with it.” Ownership changed his pace of life. He books work through referrals now, pours concrete for driveways and hardscapes on top of the roofing side, and he’s home for dinner more nights than not. The written change order system, he’ll tell you, saved him from the worst arguments he used to have with customers. Scope in writing, allowances in writing, change orders in writing. No surprises at the end.

Megan G. – Inland Northwest Market

Megan ran a small handywoman business for eight years before she joined up. She was good at the work but tired of being the only person who knew how the books worked, the only one answering calls at seven in the morning, and the only one who had to eat a mistake when a supplier price jumped mid-job. Barrett & Sons Construction gave her the back office without the corporate feel. She’s the only woman running a Barrett & Sons territory and she’ll tell you the brand name opens doors in small towns where trust is the whole ballgame. “People see the published license and the local roots and they stop asking if I’m legit,” she says. Megan holds her weekly crew meetings in the same diner her grandfather used to eat at. Community first means something where she lives. She hires locally, buys materials at the local yard, and sponsors the high school baseball team every spring.

Grace T. – Gulf Coast Market

Grace spent a decade in construction materials sales, mostly windows and doors, so she already knew which brands were worth standing behind. KraftMaid and Cambria in kitchens. Andersen and Marvin on windows. She got tired of selling to contractors who would swap in mystery brands off a van to protect a margin. When she found Barrett & Sons Construction, the premium-brand depth was already baked in. She didn’t have to fight the system to do the right thing. “The materials list looked like the one I would have written myself,” she says. Grace was nervous about the operations side at first, but the written change order discipline clicked for her. “An allowance that isn’t on paper is a surprise waiting for a date,” she says, quoting Tom without realizing it half the time. Her territory has grown every year since she opened. She still answers her own phone. That part was never negotiable for either of them.
