ViewLux Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If your ViewLux bathroom fixture has failed mid-project or your remodel got stalled by a part that cracked, seized, or gave out, we stock and install the replacement parts you need. A full ViewLux bathroom remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $10,620 to $33,040, but a single failed part is usually far less. Homeowners in neighborhoods from Sherman Oaks to Encino usually call us after one thing goes wrong: a shower valve that drips through the wallboard, a vanity drawer slide that snapped, or a glass shower panel that slipped out of its track and cracked.

Call (877) 610-1318

We’re Barrett & Sons Construction. Tom Barrett and his sons have been on job sites across Los Angeles for over 29 years, since 1998. We’re not affiliated with ViewLux, but we’ve worked on enough of their product lines to know exactly what fails, what fits, and what’s worth replacing versus rebuilding around. If you’ve got a ViewLux part that quit on you, call (877) 610-1318 and we’ll tell you straight what it’ll take.

Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux bathrooms come in a few distinct series lines, and the part you need depends on which one you have. The most common lines we see in Los Angeles are the ViewLux Classic series, the ViewLux Pro series, and the newer ViewLux Signature line that started showing up in remodels about six years ago. Each uses different valve bodies, different vanity hardware, and different glass thicknesses, so matching the part to the exact model matters.

Here’s a compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: the ViewLux Signature line moved to a 35mm cartridge stem, while the older Classic and Pro series use a 28mm stem. They look nearly identical in a photo, and if you order the wrong one, it won’t seat. We check the cartridge measurement before we order anything, so you’re not paying for a part that shows up wrong. If you can’t tell which series you have, look for a small etched label on the underside of the vanity drawer or the backside of the shower escutcheon. No label? Pull the handle and measure the stem with a set of calipers. We’ll walk you through it on the phone if that sounds like more than you want to do.

When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, our honest answer is this: for valve cartridges and showerheads, a quality aftermarket equivalent usually performs as well as the ViewLux branded part and costs 20 to 40 percent less. For glass panels and finished trim, stick with OEM. The glass tempering and edge polish on ViewLux glass is hard to match, and you’ll see the difference in how the panel hangs and seals. We’ll quote both options when we can, in writing, before you commit.

Signs Your ViewLux Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Water dribbling from the showerhead long after you’ve turned the valve off. That’s almost always a worn cartridge seat inside the valve body. In Los Angeles, our hard water accelerates mineral buildup on the seat, and once the rubber o-ring hardens, the seal goes. Left alone, it’ll start leaking behind the wall, not just through the head.
  • A vanity drawer that binds, sags, or drops when you open it. The soft-close slides on ViewLux vanities are replaceable, but when the slide wears out, the ball bearings flatten and the drawer starts riding metal-on-metal. Catch it early and it’s a $40 part. Ignore it and the drawer face eventually cracks from the stress.
  • A glass shower panel that’s shifted half an inch out of square. The top hinge bracket on ViewLux glass panels is zinc alloy, and in a steamy Los Angeles bathroom, zinc corrodes faster than you’d expect. The panel tilts, then the bottom seal tears, then water gets under the shower base. That’s the sequence, every time.
  • Grout that’s cracking specifically along the base where the wall meets the floor pan. This usually isn’t the grout’s fault. The ViewLux acrylic base flexes slightly as it settles, and if the pan wasn’t set in a mortar bed, the movement transfers into the grout line. We see this in Los Angeles homes built on pier-and-beam foundations more than slab.
  • A tub spout that wobbles, or a showerhead that drips at the swivel joint. The spout connection on ViewLux tub-shower combos is a plastic slip fitting. It’s fine for years, but once the retaining clip wears, the whole thing loosens. If you can move the spout with one hand, the clip’s gone and it’s pulling away from the pipe inside the wall.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what you should expect to pay for the most common ViewLux part replacements in Los Angeles, installed:

Part / Job Typical Installed Range
Shower valve cartridge replacement $295 - $590
Vanity drawer slide replacement (per drawer) $95 - $240
Shower glass panel re-hang or replacement $590 - $1,890
Showerhead replacement with new valve trim $350 - $825
Full ViewLux bathroom remodel $10,620 - $33,040

Every price we give you is a written line-item quote. You’ll see the part cost, the labor cost, and exactly what’s included before we start. No allowances hidden in the margin, no surprises at the end. If the scope changes mid-job, you get a written change order with the new price before we touch anything else. That’s how we’ve worked since 1998, and it’s why our 90-Day Done Right Promise is written on every contract: if it’s not done right, Tom comes back and makes it right, one call.

For the wider remodel range, what drives the cost is the scope: a cosmetic refresh with new ViewLux fixtures lands at the lower end. Moving plumbing, rebuilding the shower pan, and replacing glass panels pushes it toward the top. We’ll tell you which end of that range you’re on after we look at the room, and we’ll put it on paper.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself. Pull the vanity drawers and look at the slides: if you see flattened ball bearings or metal shavings, that’s your answer. Turn on the shower and watch the valve trim for leaks at the handle while it runs. You can also inspect the bottom shower door seal for tears. None of that requires a tool. But swapping a ViewLux shower valve cartridge means shutting off water to the house, pulling the trim, and if the cartridge is seized from mineral buildup, you can tear the valve body threads trying to muscle it out and now you’re pulling tile to replace the entire valve. That’s a $300 job turned into a $3,000 one. If you’re not sure, call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a job you can do with a screwdriver or one you should hand to somebody who’s done a hundred of them.
