• Settling and heaving on clay soil. LA’s expansive clay swells when it rains and shrinks when it dries. Uneven surfaces turn into trip hazards and water pools in the low spots. Most of the time the fix isn’t just re-leveling the pavers; it’s rebuilding the base underneath so the soil stops winning.
• Efflorescence and sun fading on tumbled pavers. Belgard Dublin Cobble and Belgard Weston Stone are popular in Los Angeles because they look like old European streets.
